And it would appear quite rightly the NATO are going to demand the 2% fee for all nations, that will nicely fuck up Germany, France and Canada who have been having an easy ride off the back of us and the US, Poland and Estonia, people hate the US but all of a sudden will be wondering why there is now an a aggressive Russia, why? Because nations wanted recipricol defence arrangements on the cheap, the good thing is if they force this on the Germans it will slow their economy up.

Can someone remind me what the point of NATO is these days?
Apart from being the mechanism whereby the US gets to put its forces all over European soil?
It is an army the US get to put in 70% of the budget and get little return, same with the UK, all for military alliances but they have to be paid for.
De facto military control on a continent that is not your own.

Let them pull it. Does more harm than good over the long term. NATO’s original mission is over. It, in conjunction with the EU, has been on an aggressive posture since the end of the Cold War, reneging on specific promises to Gorbachev that it wouldn’t.
The only time I’ve previously heard the term sandal wearers being used as an insult is from far right groups when belittling people from the Middle East.

Bazza is also right about NATO. Spain pays 0.9% of its GDP, Germany under the agreed level of 2%. Yet Greece, the basket case of Europe does pay its 2%. Wake up & smell the coffee, the Germans are playing us all for fools.
