šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø šŸ’£ The US Presidential Race

Misogyny? Not according to this. http://www.cnn.com/election/results/exit-polls

Race maybe, but not sex.

Personally, i think the restrictions placed on voting in certain states had a massive effect. 600.000 people denied the vote in one state alone.

Corporate America has still won.

This guy talks sense (but then I like him anyway).

There’s one bit in there that’s equally pertinent to the Brexit vote :-

_ ā€œI hate everyone who voted for Trump—those stupid, racist, xenophobic fucks.ā€ _

Again, that’s a pretty simplistic way to look at things. This election was about much more than the really nasty things Trump said during the campaign. First of all, Trump won in areas where Obama was strongest among white voters—i.e. people unracist enough to vote for a black president. Secondly, Trump did surprisingly well with Latino voters. This isn’t as simple as the media portrays it to be. Trump did say shameful things, and he definitely won over some very hateful people by doing so. But he also stood for a lot more than just those things. In many people’s minds, he stood for hope and change—the same exact thing Obama stood for for millions of voters in 2008.

People vote for hope and change when they’re in pain. When I watched the election last night, I didn’t see a bunch of assholes voting to be hateful, I saw a bunch of people going through a lot of suffering hoping for something better.

Which is why, if you’re a Hillary supporter, in addition to this being a time for disappointment and frustration, it should also be a time for reflection. Half your country voted for Trump. Over 50 million people—people with kids and parents and jobs and dogs and calendars on their wall with piano lessons and doctors appointments and birthday parties written in the squares. Full, three-dimensional people who voted for what they hope will be a better future for themselves and their family.

ā€œHalf your country voted for Trumpā€. No they didn’t! Half the country didn’t vote at all. 51% of people eligible to vote, voted. So 49% of those eligible to vote couldn’t be arsed. Of the 51 % who were motivated to get off their arses a goodly proportion weren’t voting positively, they voted because they hated Clinton. Anyone but Clinton. Another goodly proportion voted for The Trumpster because they sit in their trailor park every night, watching the Trumpster on ā€˜The Apprentice’, 'you’re fired! That’s all they know about him! For fucks sake, These stupid Yanks voted for someone who has his own private 757 jet, with his name emblazoned on the side, who sits on a golden throne at the top of a golden tower in New York, lit up with his name, to ā€œstick it to the eliteā€! Hahaha., You really couldn’t make this stuff up. Fucking hilarious!

And the funniest thing of all is that they just can’t see it. They really do believe that ā€˜The Trumpster’ is on their side! Nobody ever went broke overestimating the ability of the average American to display their supreme ignorance for all the world to see.

Was really embarrassing watching Obama and Trump yesterday, Obama telling the world that Trump was a ā€œGood manā€! Hahaha. Truth be told , of course, is that here we had two members of ā€˜The elite’, meeting for the first time, sitting down having a chat. Truth be told, it would be difficult for them to find anything they really disagreed about!

My advice is make the most of it, enjoy that feeling of superiority, the truth is that the civilized world is splitting their sides laughing at the good ole US of A, even that little fat bugger with the dodgy haircut in North Korea can feel superior.

And don’t forget to point at every Yank you see and howl with laughter!

But only 9% of Americans wanted either of the 2. The whole thing was a stitch up(admittedly they even got that wrong). Have a look how many people were excluded from voting in the important states that swing an election(think NYT had an article, maybe the Intercept). My family over there are freaking out(california liberals). Hope they don’t expect to come over here for a bit of normality(bitter disappointment awaits).

Still, look on the bright side. Nigel Fararge has put himself forward to be Trumps EU representative. America and the EU, but not us having to listen to him almost makes it all worthwhile. God bless the idiots

I think it is very important that American people realise that they are a laughing stock. The civilized world are slapping their thighs and howling with laughter at them. In the UK, for all our democratic faults, if an MP is declared bankrupt they are immediately disqualified from being an MP. They have to resign. And rightly so.

In the good ole US of A they have just elected to the Presidency a three times bankrupt, someone who put thousands of his workers on the scrapheap, whose first lady is his third wife, an illegal immigrant, star of lesbian porno flicks, out there for all to see. Fucking hilarious.

My prediction, for what it’s worth, is that the Trumpster will never enact any of his promises, ā€˜The wall around Mexico’, ā€˜kicking all the Muslims out’, all the rest of his batshit crazy manifesto, which the batshit crazy ā€˜Muricans’ lapped up, because when push comes to shove, even the Republicans in Congress will baulk at it. That’s when the shit will hit the fan, when the penny drops with his batshit crazy supporters that they have been suckered.Taken for the simple minded, gullible retards that they are.

But in the meantime, we should all fill our boots, if you happen to come across a Yank, point at them and howl with laughter, much the same as you would if you came across a Pompey supporter! Yee Haa!

Don’t disagree with you there, was just pointing out that Trump and Clinton should never have been there.

Dubai_Phil’s post(yesterday i think) was a good take on the reality of how America works.

Sit back and enjoy :lou_smiley:

Churchill was bankrupt in all but name, don’t talk shit, many go to prison and keep privilege, talking of privilege what parliamentary privilege and lobbying, our system is ditry corrupt and shit, our voting system is akin to the US one, NU Lanour don’t moan about that democracy though do they? Neither do tories, maybe this is one of the reasons why people did this.

We’re fucking angry and this was the opportunity,

There are some fucking people on here who know nothing of history but plenty of a page of the Manchester Guardian.

Thought it might be worth having something of an update. It’s a strange enough week when Donald Trump is elected. It’s even stranger when Piers Morgan turns out to be right and Nigel Farage ends up being one of the most influential Brits in the next election.

Piers is right because he said that Trump would not be as bad as his rhetoric. Already, some of Trump’s biggest pledges have disappeared from his web site. Talk of a wall is gone, as is the blanket ban on Muslims (guess they’ve figured something out, eh). It’ll be interesting to see just how much of a policy platform remains.

Into the downright bizarre, there has also been a bit of talk concerning the predictions of Baba Yanga, the so called blind mystic. She’s supposed to have an 85% success rate in predicting future events. She predicted that the 44th President would be African American apparently. She also predicted he would be the last to assume the office. I don’t normally go for this stuff other than pure curiosity value, but this one is quite spicy, just because if there was ever a President that might not get to assume office, it really is Trump.

Can you be impeached before you assume the position or he could be assasinated prior to Jan 20th
