If he is going to leave, I’d rather it was permanent. It hasn’t worked out for him here but I think there’s a great player in there somewhere. ---

I agree on both counts. But I guess he hasn’t really done it over the last two years, plus there are question marks over his attitude. So a loan was probably all we could do. If he impresses then he will still have two years left on his contract so we may be in a position to recoup most of the £16m we paid for. ---

I think you’re both looking at it from a negative point. If his undoubted talent works to its potential in Spain, it won’t be a case of recouping money, it’ll be a potential massive profit. You know how the club works, so with that in mind i’d say it’s a shrewd move from the club. I’m getting a positive feeling about all the transfer business during this window, with Elyounoussi being the most impressive bit of business by far in my opinion.
