… of course, that line has not been the national anthem since 1945… :lou_facepalm_2:

… and properlay translated was a comment on how Germans should hold their country above everything else in their lives… not a comment on superiority… mis-translation.

…of course I knew it was dropped at the end of the second world war and was employing it for, what is evidently rather ineffective comic effect.

But I’m guessing there was a reason why it was dropped post-1945. Not so much a mis-translation as a phrase that could be interpreted in two different ways?

Either way, it makes no odds to me. We Swiss are stoically neutral (just don’t mention the gold we have squirreled away).
