Fonte Going?

Get your ass down the Seaview and spend some quality time with Rosie, it’s clear you’re having trouble adapting back from a Mancunian summer to the joys of 70C relative Heat here in Dubai.

So there are Jose runours. At least they’re not VVD rumours, and hell, we’ve got Jack Stephens & Jordan Turnbull back from loan now.

Oh.

Pick me up on the way down there will ya’

Maybe I should have gone to bed afer my nightshift instead of logging on, and then staying on the computer all morning!!

So, I’m quite pessimistic about this move and think it probably will happen but not to Everton, they have had a £10m bid accepted for Ashley Willaims (according to the Mirror).

I can see him going to United but they are apparently after 29 year old Ezequiel Garay of Zenit St Petersburg fame, however Fonte would be cheaper but as money is no object to United…

£10m for Ashley Williams?? :astonished:

That makes Jose about £25m and VVD £50m.

But according to this article Williams is the better defender. They base this on the fact that he made more attempted tackles per game than Fonte

Williams a better defender?

Hahahahahahaha!!!

If they are judging people on the number of tackles made then a relegated team would have the best back four in the country every season.

Ditto the keeper - with the most attempted and failed saves.

How about they judge it on the most games won, or perhaps the most European Championships won? - that might be more of an indicator.

I looked for an official Twitter account for Fonte on the night he won Euro 2016. There was one account that didn’t really look bonafide and hadn’t been used for years. I also noted the club were using Cedric’s Twitter tag in their congratulations but not Fonte’s. So, unless you’re talking about an account that was shut down before the Euros I’d suggest you’re hallucinating.

It is driving me mad!! Still can’t understand why I was seeing his posts on Twitter. Will have to see if his next post on Instagram pops up on my Twitter!

Any road up, just opened a bottle of Sab Cav to help stop hearing the voices in my head

Some positive noise coming out on TSW. Hope its all true!!

I just cannot see this, he knows how well things have gone at Southampton and in turn his international career. He has just won the Euro 2016. It is very strange as I thought he would go a couple of years ago, but I now think he will see out his career here.

But football never suprises me anymore.

What news is that mate? Please don’t make me look for myself!

A friend of Duncan Holly who knows Jose well says Fonte’s going nowhere…from the horse’s mouth.

Done it for you …

Fitzhugh Fella posted that “his sons mate works at the club and spoke to Fonte today who said he’s going nowhere” :lou_wink:

I take back all my Twitter things … it was actually on Facebook I’ve been seeing his posts on @F6NTE … one popped up tonight, another Portuguese celebration, but still shows his occupation as Footballer at SFC!!

Fuck knows why I thought it was on Twitter, but at least I might be able to sleep now, without the need for rubber / plastic bedding … the bottle of Cab Sav should helpas well on the sleeping bit!!

Down voted for almost turning this place into TSW

Went to bed feeling relieved that Fonte had said he was staying, but woke up wondering whether Jose, who is in the middle of a contract negotiation with us, would ever have told the truth when questioned.

It still sounds good, but would Jose ever have said “between you, me and Internet forums I’m angling for a move to United”.

Probably not.

Looking forward to you and D_P being over here at the same time so you can fail to pay the bill in the wrong pub pre-game.

This sounds like the realism (or cynicism) of rapidly approaching Old Age, Bletch. :lou_sad:

Without wanting to prompt slack bladders to give way - he must be very tempted…big money, massive opportunity, last real chance for medals, working with Mourinho…and he could justify it by telling himself he’s always giving us 100%.

And he has.
