I was just about to move my files from my old external hard rove for it to die on me. A local company managed to transfer files for a small fee. Started to print off some of my favorite photos now only thibk I’d probably miss that’s on my PC. ---

I’d suggest Wikileaks is being a bit sensationalist & misleading. Which, isn’t particularly surprising. The TV hacking appears to require a USB plugged into the tele - so is basically equivalent to someone breaking in and bugging a room. The stuff about WhatsApp etc is more that if they can get onto your phone, they can record audio or take screenshots. The actual e2e has not been broken. Proof that Wikileaks tactic of dump thousands of docs alongside a summary, paired with news media’s attitude of “get the story first, not right”, allows WL to shape a narrative. ---

So does anyone else routine tape over front-facing cameras on computers and tablets? I see that since the Westminster attack, there has been renewed pressure from politicians to also so something about end-to-end encryption. No justification - the government can already legally install malware on your devices and read everything you say, including your WhatsApp messages. ---
