Just collecting a few of the issues that people have reported so far, so we can keep all feature requests in one place, and not all over the shop.
The forum software we're using is third party, relatively new to me. Rome wasn't built in a day, but this forum was installed in one :) That's a good and a bad thing.
The other consideration is people,. including me, that are used to how things are done elsewhere.
Requests since going live
Things that have been requested so far:-
Books category added for saintbletch.
Better quoting (Coxford Lou & Chertsey). In the first instance, planning on changing this so we automatically blockquote. Next step on the road map will be putting the replied to user in the blockquote, TSW style. Finally, we'll look at multi-quoting
More media embeds (bletch) This should be a simple one. We need to add YouTube / media button to the editor to allow more video types to be added.
Fix on editing posts and adding a poll (bug from original code). There's an issue with the site when editing a post and trying to add a poll.
Smilies (Bear, "formal" specification below)
I do quite like to have smiley things, but they don't need to be normal ones, they can be special or saints related ones we make ourselves, like i.e. we could have one of i.e. tokyos face that means i.e. homosex and one of i.e. dejan lovren face that means i.e. cunt
Preview function To stop people looking like idiots, apparently.
Paging People don't like having to click "Load more posts" all the time. Neither do I. A nice paging metaphor will do lovely.
Longer term roadmap
Assignable points (Spudders) - give posters an allowance of points, purely to be given to other posters. This would accrue over time. I'm thinking it should be a weekly thing, based on the weekly rock stars.
Tapatalk (Bill Gate's oven glove) - tapatalk integration for mobile devices. Need to look into difficulty of this before committing to a timeframe.
Please use this thread to ask for new stuff, or complain about the way that things currently work. One of the benefits of running my own thing is that it segues quite nicely with my professional experience. I'm keen to differentiate on that front, so I am all ears.
